Jalen Fonacier

Born August 9, 2005 in Los Angeles, CA, Jalen has encountered many physical obstacles in his short upbringing. While in womb, Jalen was diagnosed with bilateral hydronephrosis, which is an obstruction within the kidneys.
 
In order to determine the severity and cause of the hydronephrosis, he had to undergo a number of medical procedures and ultrasounds beginning a few weeks after birth until just recently. He has also, been faced with life threatening instances, including febrile seizures, but found the strength to fight through it…
 
With his determination and drive to fight through his medical conditions, his parents believed their son to have an extraordinary fighting spirit. His father and uncle, avid enthusiasts for martial arts, Jalen was enrolled and began training in Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of three.
